She attended Auburn University, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree. She worked as a Medical Technologist for over 40 years at various hospitals and clinics throughout the United States. For many years she was a member of the St. Boniface Church choir in Bay City, Michigan, and more recently, she was a member of the St. Rita Church choir, where she played the organ. She was also a former member of the Seagrove Beach Garden Club.
Margaret/Mom/Mimi was warm, caring, loving, generous – always a rock in the lives of so many of her family. She loved music, reading, and being surrounded by those whom she loved. At Seagrove Beach she created a home that became the center of warm family gatherings for many years. She possessed a gentle smile, ready laugh, and a sharp wit that never diminished.
Mrs. Kennell is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 73 years, Thomas Kennell, and three sons, Michael, Christopher, and David Kennell. Mrs. Kennell is survived by her children Karen Hewitt and husband Jim, Tom Kennell and wife Patricia, Andy Kennell and wife Kathy, Dan Kennell and wife Margie, and Patrick Kennell and wife Kirsten. She also leaves a lasting legacy in 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held 10:00~11:00 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at St. Rita Catholic Church; 137 Moll Drive, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at St. Rita Catholic Church, with her grandson Father Thomas Kennell V, officiating.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 15, 2016 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama at 600 Martin King, Jr, Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35211.
