Mr. Kennell was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the St. Rita Catholic Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United Sates Marine Corp. He worked as an industrial engineer in the Garment Industry for over 40 years before retiring. He attended Auburn University receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in business. He also played football and ran track while at Auburn. After retiring he competed in Masters Track and Field having won many National Meets in the sprints and jumps.
Mr. Kennell is preceded in death by his parents and three sons Michael, Christopher and David Kennell and one sister Maryon Kerr.
Mr. Kennell is survived by his loving wife of 73 years Margaret Kennell of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; his children Karen Hewitt and husband Jim, Tom Kennell and wife Pat, Andy Kennell and wife Kathy, Dan Kennell and wife Margie and Patrick Kennell and wife Kirsten; also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held 1:00~2:00, Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Rita Catholic Church at 137 Moll Drive, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Rita Catholic Church, with Father Kevin Johnson officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama at 600 Martin Luther King Jr, Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35211.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Rita Catholic Church.
