Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Reverend Mauro Sanchez will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Akron with military honors conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a Parish Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and Scriptural Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m., all at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel-Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Emil Beeck was born February 4, 1925 on a farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Fred and Wilhelmina (John) Beeck. He attended country school in Plymouth County. Following his schooling, he began working as a farm hand for area farmers.
He was drafted into the United States Army in February of 1950. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in February of 1952. Following his discharge, he returned to Plymouth County. After working for several farmers, he went to work at the Egg Plant in Akron.
He was united in marriage to Charlotte Henrich on June 19, 1965 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron.
After working at the Egg Plant, he went to work for the Farmer's Coop in Akron. Retiring from there after 20 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for the City of Akron park's department. He also had a lawn service in Akron for several years.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. He had also been a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 for several years. Emil loved the outdoors, whether he was fishing or mowing yards. He also enjoyed playing cards and jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include his wife of over 51 years, Charlotte of Akron; two daughters: Lisa (John) Koch of Denison, IA, and Mary Brandt of Elk Point, SD; his grandchildren: Nathan Roggatz of Sioux City, IA, Jennifer (Kane) Koster of Hockley, TX, and Cody Siemers of Elk Point, SD, Taylin Brandt of Sioux City, and Sylis Brandt of Sioux City; his step grandchildren: Nick (Krista) Koch of Westside, IA, and Justin Koch of Denison, IA; 4 step great grandchildren; his sister in law: Betty Beeck of Akron, IA; and numerous other in laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers and a sister; his father and mother in law; and two sisters in law.
