Florence "Flo" Monsour Dorsey Cheselka was born February 9, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio. As a two pound baby she earned the name Florence for her strength and perseverance against all odds. The incredible fortitude she had as an infant has stayed with her throughout her life. Florence grew up in Brownsville, Pennsylvania later moving back to Cleveland. In Cleveland she met and married Nicholas R. Cheselka on August 5, 1949; whom she is survived by. During the past 70 years, Florence has lived in Cleveland, Aurora and Solon. While she lived in Solon she was a cake decorator and also did full time daycare, taking care of countless children for over 30 years. Florence has also been a longtime member of the St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro, where she has faithfully served on the Alter and Rosary Society.
Florence is preceded in death by her parents David and Angela Monsour, her brothers and sisters, most recently Ray, Helen, Jane, Georgie and David. She is also preceded by her son, Nicholas R. Cheselka II and grandson Robert Dorsey. Florence is survived by her children Charlotte (Hugh dec.) Campbell, David (Shirley) Dorsey, Thomas (Joann) Dorsey and Raymond (Joanne) Cheselka. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildreen, 35 great grandchildren and many others that loved and cherished her.
Calling hours will be from 4 - 8 PM Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, August, 8, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Church in Streetsboro. Burial will follow in Aurora City Cemetery in Aurora, Ohio.
