Elizabeth Leah Allred Shay, 86, a sweet, gentle woman and our cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend left her weary earthly body during her sleep on the evening of Oct. 23, 1996.

She was born July 28, 1910 in Lewiston, Utah, the daughter of Lulu Beckstead and William Allred. She married Joseph Benjamin Shay on October 16, 1926. They had six children: Douglas J. (Shirley), Sandy; Wayne B. (deceased), ReDora Herbster (Walter), Long Beach, California; Donna Davis, Salt Lake; Ronald (Carol), North Salt Lake and Joseph (Virginia), Kearns. Divorced 10/31/46.Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a remarkable mother and beautiful seamstress.

She is survived by her five children, 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson; sisters, Mona Hall (Jack), Glenna Wardel (Robert), Gretta Christensen and LaRue Conn, Idaho; preceded in death by parents; son, Wayne; brothers, Vernon and Dow; sisters, Irene and Vera.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m., at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South. Viewing one hour prior to services. Interment at Lake Hills Memorial Park, 10055 South State.
