SALISBURY, MA: Joan M. (Dalton) Hussey, 84, Salisbury, Mass., died March 4, 2016, at Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury, where she was cared for and loved by staff since November 2015.
Joan was born October 23, 1931, in Newburyport, Mass., the daughter of Pandi and Fernande (Levesque) Dalton. She graduated Newburyport High School, Class of 1949, and was a member of the Newburyport High 49ers. Married to classmate, Lawrence F. Hussey since 1952, they resided in Amesbury for 45 years, where she was a homemaker and proprietor of Terry's Flower Shop for 13 years in downtown Amesbury. They later moved to Salisbury, where they retired for the last 15 years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence F. Hussey, Sr. of 64 years and six children, Lawrence F. Hussey, Jr., Peter Hussey and wife, Jean Marie of Florida, Diane D. Page and husband, Steve of Dover, N.H., Keith P. Hussey, Sr. and wife, Diane of Seabrook, N.H., Stephen R. Hussey and wife, Tina of Hampton, N.H., Thomas W. Hussey of Salisbury. She is survived by her sisters, Ethel Gleason of Amesbury, Marion Mishoe of Georgia; and brother, Paul R. Dalton of Florida. She was predeceased by her son, James E. Hussey (1980); her sister, Doris Wilbur (1987); and brother, Peter E. Dalton (2011). She leaves 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who spent years enjoying and learning from her homemaking skills and talents. Also, 10 nieces and nephews with special appreciation for Donna Boulay, New Hampshire, and David Brooks, Georgia.
Arrangements are not complete at this time, but future memorial service will be held at Union Congregational Church. Services are under the direction of the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral home in Amesbury.
