Dixie Shakespear

Tropic, Utah

Dixie Hall Shakespear, 92, passed away July 31, 2016 in Panguitch. She was born December 13, 1923 in Boulder to Horace R and Maud Riding Hall. She married Eldredge R. Shakespear October 8, 1946 in Blackfoot, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized February 6, 1948 in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death September 8, 1995.

Dixie’s life was one of service. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in various callings. DUP was dear to her heart and she served as captain for many years.

Dixie’s greatest accomplishments were her family and service to others.

Many people came to Dixie’s home because she was a gracious hostess. She made everyone feel welcome. She was aware of people in need and showed great compassion for everyone. She always saw the best in people. She loved to cook and generously shared with the community. She loved to talk about her Boulder, Salt Gultch and Bryce Canyon.

Dixie loved people. She worked for Bryce Canyon National Park, Ruby’s Inn campground office and the information building in Tropic. She met people from all over the world, making life-long friendships. We love to imagine the reunion she is having now.

She will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew her.

The family thanks the Garfield Long-term care facility, staff and residents.

She is survived by her children: Rett (Christine) Shakespear, Danny (Vicki) Shakespear, Arvon Button, Chad R. Shakespear, Ed (Camille) Shakespear, Vard Hall (Nicky) Shakespear, Christy (Jeff) Gardner; son-in-law, Romell Hepworth; 31 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; & 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Betty Lou Hepworth; son-in-law, Nolan Button; grandson, Brent Hepworth; siblings: Elmo Hall, Erna Hansen, Lenora LeFevre, Clelle Littlefield, LeFair Hall, Marie Hall.
