From a letter written by Ada Elizabeth Layton Lewis (Dora Ady Layton's daughter) to her cousin Elizabeth Arlene Brickley Eversole (Vic Ady Brickley's daughter) dated April 14, 1972:

"...now about your mother's name. I never have quite figured it out. I know she went by name Victoria. My mother (Dora A. Ady, sister of Vic) always said that Aunt Vic was named Hannah Victory for her two grandmothers. She just plain did not like the Victory and changed it to first name Victoria; and that she hated Hannah because her grandmother Ady had always been called Hanner, so she changed that to Willis which was her grandmother Ady's middle name. . . In April 1915 our grandfather Byron Ady filled out a form for the Bureau of Pensions on which he lists all his children, living and dead, with their birth dates. He has your mother: Victoria W".

She married Elza Brickley on December 1, 1892 in Wells County, Indiana by Reverend J.B. Alleman.

Vic Brickley was remembered by her grandsons, Bill and Kedrick, as a strong willed woman. She lived to see eleven of her twelve great grandchildren. A long time resident near Uniondale, she was an active member in the Women's Society of Christian Service Northern Indiana Conference and of the Uniondale United Methodist Church.
