Elva M. Alexander, 96 of Holdrege, NE died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Funeral Services was be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with Reverend Shawn Kitzing officiating. Burial was held at the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City.

Elva May (Curtis) Alexander was born August 30, 1919 at Chase, Nebraska to Alvin Lester Curtis and Grace Leota Pummel. She was one of eleven children. Her family moved to Grover Colorado where she received her education at West Pawnee School, and then moved to Payette Idaho where Elva met the love of her life Max Alexander. They were united in marriage on November 8th 1935 in Oberlin, Kansas. They made their home on the family farm in Lebanon, Kansas where they had 4 children; 3 sons, Calvin, Richard, Phillip and 1 daughter, Connie. They farmed the land for 30 years. In her early years, Elva loved to garden, crochet, and fish. She always had a beautiful garden with flowers and fresh vegetables. She loved to can her produce. She also had a great skill for cooking and managed many restaurants in her time. In her later years she loved to crochet items for all her friends and their families at the nursing home. At the nursing home, she was known for putting in many of hours putting together puzzles. She was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Loup City, Nebraska. Elva was descripted by many as sharp as a tack, tough as nails, quick wit and a fine sense of humor.

Survivors include 1 sister, Zelda Flock of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and friends that she considered family. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Max; sons, Calvin, Richard, Phillip; daughter, Connie; 4 brothers, 6 sisters and 4 grandsons.
