Born in Durham, Steve attended Durham Technical Institute, Greensboro College, and at the time of his death was a student at Vance-Granville Community College, where he was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. He had worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Surviving are his parents, Edsel B. and Ramie Bowles Terry; two aunts, Katherine T. Mangum and Elizabeth T. Henderson; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm in Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel with Elder Thomas Whitley officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
