A native of Bloomington and a graduate of Indiana University, she came to Muncie to teach in the 1920s and shortly after was married to the late Dr. F.E. Botkin. They resided at 511 E. Charles St. for many years before moving to the Chase Spurgeon home on Riverside Avenue.
Several years ago, she married I.S. Jordan and moved to Indianapolis, where the couple had purchased the Booth Tarkington home.
Mrs. Jordan taught in Delaware County for a number of years. She was a well-known clubwoman and musician here and was a charter member of the Muncie Branch of the National League of Pen Women and the Women's League of the Muncie Symphony Orchestr and a member of the Paul Revere Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Muncie Women's Club, the Pegasus Poetry Club and the Muncie Matinee Musicale.
The only survivors are a niece whom Mrs. Jordan raised, Mrs. Albert L. (Barbara Ping) Walters, Richmond; several nephews, including Dr. Tom Botkin and Dr. Clyde Botkin, Muncie, and Gene Botkin, Selma; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Lewis Weber Gishler, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum at 10 a.m. Monday. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and before the services Sunday.
