Mrs. John Pillars departed this life Wednesday morning at her home here, after a lingering illness. She had reached the age of 61 years, passing away on her birthday anniversary. She was one of the best known residents of Monroeville, having lived here many years. She was loved by all who knew her for her fine Christian character and her many acts of kindness. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Smith Nelson and Mrs. Wm. Alleger of this palace; three sons, Edward of Arcola and L.H. and Thomas of this city; also a number of grand children and other relatives. She has been a devoted member of Columbia Rebekah lodge No. 399 for a number of years, and this order will attend in a body. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 o'clock from the Methodist church. The Rev. L.D. Rehl officiating.
