Lewis Edwin Buckles, age 90, of Piney Flats, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from the Bristol Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. Lewis was born in Bluff City, Tennessee on February 28, 1926 to the late Emmett and Oda Dempsey Buckles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Verna Riffey; and one brother, Bill Buckles.

Lewis retired as an electrician, and had also worked as a farmer and was a small business owner. He had been a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church for over 60 years. Lewis was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Bluff City VFW Post # 9629, a 50 year member of M.M. Martin Masonic Lodge #547 and he was a past worshipful master of M.M. Martin Masonic Lodge #547 in 1962. He was a charter member of the Piney Flats Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of the Piney Flats Ruritan Club. He loved to farm and spend time with his grandson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Delores Willis Buckles, of the home; one son, Keith Buckles and wife Betty, of Lenoir City, TN; one daughter, Tammie Green and husband Steve, of Piney Flats; one grandson, Jeremy Lewis Buckles and wife Kelsey, of Lenoir City, TN; one brother, Jim Buckles, of Bluff City; four sisters, Jewel Buchanan, of Bristol, TN, Jean Owens, of Bluff City, TN, Shirley Reedy, of Piney Flats, TN, and Linda Uzell, Alpharetta, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Lewis Edwin Buckles will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Tetrick Funeral Home – Bluff City Chapel with Mr. Brad Perry and Mr. Evan Wolfe, ministers, officiating. There will be a Masonic Service, to follow the funeral service. Music will be provided by MaKenzee and MaKayla Lady. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in the Poplar Ridge Christian Church Cemetery in Piney Flats, Tennessee. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Honor Guard of Bristol. Active pallbearers will be Jim Perkins, Rick Buckles, Teddy Johnson, Gene Booher, Bob Allen, Andy Burke and Kyle Tester. Honorary pallbearers will be Haskell King, Tom Hale, Johnny Miller, the Elders and Deacons of Poplar Ridge Christian Church, the Steve Lady family, and Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM on Wednesday.
