Vernon E. Burnett, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 12, 1932, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Henry and Ruth Toney Burnett.

A National Guard veteran, Mr. Burnett was an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. One of his greatest pleasures was hunting and fishing during all seasons, especially with his son and grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in the garden, learning about the history of South Carolina, and was very knowledgeable of the history of Spartanburg and South Carolina. He graduated from Spartanburg High School, was a member and deacon at Glendale Baptist Church, and was also a member of Glendale Masonic Lodge. He retired from the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and the SC School for the Deaf and Blind and as an electrician.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Roberta Bradley Burnett of the home; children, Linda Scuderi (Leonardo) of El Paso, TX, Brad Burnett (Deborah) of Greer, SC, and Mary Glaze (Steve) of Roebuck, SC; grandchildren, Rosario Scuderi (Tatiana) and their children, Giovanna, Leonardo, and Carmelina, all of Manassas, VA, Susannah Shelpman (James) of Waterford, MI, Egidia Scuderi of El Paso, TX, Nicole Collins (Carroll), Clarice, Cody, and Cameron Collins, all of Greer, SC, Ashley Brewer (Adam) of Woodruff, SC, Colten Burnett of Greer, SC, Thomas Griffin, and Daniel Griffin (Jessica) and their children Ayden and Oliver, all of Roebuck, SC.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, July 15, 2016, at Glendale Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Glendale Baptist Church, by the Rev. Daniel Blackwell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glendale Baptist Church – Ken and Cindy West Missionaries, 1 Church Street, Glendale, SC 29346.

The family is at the home of Roberta Burnett.
