George Charles Currens, Sr., 73, Gettysburg R3, died at the Carroll Shoe Factory, Littlestown, at 3:00 this morning. Dr. Chester G Crist attributed the death to a cerebral hemorrhage.
The deceased was a native of Adams County. He was the son of the late Daniel and Clara Pittenturf Currens. Currens was employed at the Carroll Shoe Factory, where he died, as a night watchman.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Bernizer Currens, Gettysburg R3; six children; Eugene M., of Arendtsville; George C. Jr., Gettysburg R2; Mrs. Paul Newman Jr., Gettysburg; Mrs. Charles Swope, Orrtanna; Mrs. Frederick Shealer, Gettysburg R4, and Joyce Currens, at home.
Fifteen grandchildren and two brothers, John M and Luther W Currens, Gettysburg R3, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 from the Allison Funeral Home, Fairfield, conducted by Rev. Norman Wolf, former pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church, Fairfield. Interment will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
