MARION - Johnson Whilden Avant, 41, died about midnight Saturday at a hospital at Barberton, Ohio, after a short illness.
Born in Marion, he was the son of the late H. B. and Daisy Coleman Avant.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete but will be held in Barberton.
Surviving are his widow, the former Ann Hoffman; three sons, John Avant of US Marine Corps. Florida, Tommy Avant and Terry Avant of the home; one daughter, Kathy Avant of the home; five sisters, Mrs. Harold Craven, Mrs. R. E. Smith Jr., and Mrs. Benton Atkinson of Marion, Mrs. James T. Williams of Lumberton, N.C. and Mrs. M. G. Evans of Charleston; and two brothers, Dr. Earl Stanley Avant of Macon, Ga. and H. B. Avant of Charleston.
