MUNCIE--Floyd G. Ayers, 72, died unexpectedly Monday at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Alexandria and moved to Muncie in 1942. He was a graduate of Alexandria High School and a member of the Avondale United Methodist Church where he served as a board member, a trustee, a Sunday school superintendent, and a church usher. He was a member of the Avondale Sympathy Club, the Methodist Men, and the Delaware Masonic Lodge 46.
He retired in 1976 from Chevrolet in Muncie, now the Hydramatic, following more than 36 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Young); two daughters, Brenda S. Ayers and Nancy (Mrs. David) Cunnington, both of Muncie; a son, Charles H. Ayers of Muncie; a sister, Hellen Johnson of Alexandria; a brother, Ray Ayers of Anderson; and four grandchildren.
Services will be conducted today at 2:30 p.m. at Meeks Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeffrey Simmons, pastor of the Avondale United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
