Funeral At Rollo Brown Home This Afternoon -- Burial Here
A resident of Murray county for 36 years and of Tracy for the past eight years, Martinus Anderson, 76, died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Brown Tuesday after a lingering illness from cancer.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Brown home this afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Thomas Patterson of Sheldon, Iowa officiating. Burial will be in the Tracy cemetery.
Mr. Anderson was born at Stravrud, Norway on May 30, 1860. He came to make his home in this land in 1885 settling on a homestead near Iona in Murray county. Here he made his home 16 years moving to Fenton township where he resided until 1927 when he retired and moved to Tracy.
He was married in 1880 prior to coming to the United States. He is survived by his widow, three sisters and a brother in Norway, a brother in Duluth and 12 sons and daughters. One sister, Mrs. O. J. Dysthe of Chandler, Minn. preceded him in death. His children are Jacob, Cottonwood, S.D.; Andrew, Philip, S.D.; Oscar, Lake Wilson; Mrs. H. J. Douglas, Los Angeles; Mike, Tracy; Mrs T. R. Back, Denver; Ole and George of Kewannee, Illinois; Mrs. Clara Aldrich, Tracy; Arthur, Slayton; Nels and Mrs. Rollo Brown of Tracy. He also leaves 33 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
