Rites Held Monday For Aged Woman
Mrs. Martin Anderson, 81, Dies at Home of Daughter in Tracy
Final rites were held Monday, at the Ohman funeral home in this city, for Mrs. Martin Anderson of Tracy, who died on January 20th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. E. Brown.
At the time of her death she was 89 years of age.
Gorena Jacobsen was born in Skolabaken, Norway, on November 22, 1859. She was married to Martin Anderson in Norway and two sons, Jacob and Andrew were born there.
Mr. Anderson came to Iona, Minn., in 1884, and sent for his family the following year. They homesteaded south of Iona in Murray county and farmed there until the spring of 1927 when they moved to Tracy. Mr. Anderson passed away on December 15th, 1936. Since his death, Mrs. Anderson has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rollo Brown. She suffered a stroke October 10, 1943, and has been bedridden ever since.
To this union twelve children were born, Jacob, who preceded his mother in death one and one-half years ago; Andrew of Phillip, S.D.; Emma (Mrs. H. J. Douglas) of Los Angeles, Calif.; Oscar, Fergus Falls, Minn; Anna (Mrs. T. R. Bach) of Denver, Colo.; Mike of Tracy; George and Ole, both of Kewanee, Ill; Clara (Mrs. Aldrich), Tracy; Arthur of Coquille, Ore.; Nels of Denver, Colo.; and Ruth (Mrs. R. E. Brown), Tracy.
Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her passing, 42 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, three half sisters in Norway and a host of friends.
Vilas Huishere of Janesville, Wisc., conducted the funeral services and Mrs. Anderson's sons and grandsons acted as pall bearers.
Out-of-town friends and relatives here for the rites were Mrs. H. J. Douglas, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson, Fergus Falls; Mrs. Thos. B. Bach, Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Ole Anderson, all of Kewanee, Ill.; Arthur Anderson, Coquille, Ore.; Nels Anderson, Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cook, Slayton; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Vihlen, Chandler; Mrs. and Mrs. Ed Ginn of Westbrook and Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Tousegnout, Denver.
