Frank S. "Ike" Shankle, 90, of 402 Arthur St., Kittanning died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township.

He was born Oct. 18, 1911 in West Kittanning to Frank S. and Maude (Bowser) Shankle.

Mr. Shankle was a retired delivery truck driver, employed by the former Mateer Furniture Store, Kittanning, retiring in 1973 with 31 years of service. An Army veteran, he served during World War II. He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church of West Kittanning. His other memberships included the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 863, Kittanning.

Survivors include his wife, Martha A. Brown Shankle; one stepson, Russell D. Brown of Greencastle; four stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Delbert L. Shankle of Warren, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Percy J. (Betty) Marshall of West Kittanning; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Omer, Harry B., Leslie R., Clarence, Walter "Jack" and Harold "Fred" Shankle; and two sisters, Leona Shankle and Georgia Freeman.

SHANKLE - Friends of Frank S. "Ike" Shankle, 90, of 402 Arthur St., Kittanning, who died Feb. 5, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Richard Cornwell officiating. Interment will be in the Mateer Cemetery, Boggs Township.
