Kathryn Pearl Gordon, age 90, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, KS. She was born October 18, 1925 in Garden City, KS, the daughter of Clarence Raymond and Emma Melinda (Ray) Eaton.
She attended school in Garden City, Dighton and Syracuse, KS.
She married Clyde Raymond Conley May 31, 1943 in Syracuse, KS: Mary Louise, Clyde Lynton, Leonard Gordon, Lyndel Doyle, and Janetta Lynn were born to this union. This marriage ended in divorce.
She married love of her life, Norton Stanly Gordon
on August 8, 1953, at Clayton, NM. They had one child Lex Stanley . Daddy also brought to this union our brother Keith Lavon and sister Kathy Lorraine. Norton died February 2. 2006.
Kathryn grew up during the "Dust Bowl".She had many stories of the hardsips they suffered during this time. She worked in the sugar beet fields during her teen years but after her children came along she devoted herself to making a home and caring for her family.
She met Norton at a dance and they danced through life for 53 years. Norton played guitar and sang in country western bands. Mom took pride in being one of the "Band Wives." She loved motorcycles. I can still see her riding on the back with her arms around daddy.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Forgan, OK and found strength in prayer. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include son, Lynton Conley and wife Sandy Decatur, TX; son, Doyle Conley and wife Susan Bryant, AR; son, Lex Gordon Guymon, OK; son, Keith Gordon and wife Donna Prairie Grove, AR; daughter, Mary Coffee and husband Jim Columbus, KS; daughter, Janetta Keller and husband Burl Turpin, OK; sister, Marilyn Craig Liberal, KS; 11 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren and 23 Great-Great Grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 Son Gordon Conley, 1 Daughter Kathy Hinz, 1 Daughter-in-law Marla Gordon, 1 Brother Raymond Eaton, 2 Sisters Helen Hamilton and Jean Stutzman, 4 Grandchildren Roy Hamby, Rene Hamby, Jason Conley and Pepper Keller.
