Mrs. Essex died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
A former cook at Clifford school and Hauser High School, she was a member of Clifford United Methodist Church and Esther Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star at Hope.
She was born in Brown County Jan. 10, 1910, the daughter of George and Mary Elizabeth Siebert Rockwell. She married Joseph T. Essex April 12, 1930. He died Sept. 8, 1979.
She is survived by daughters, Jean Elliott of Hope and Joan Rollins of Vevay; a brother, Ralph Rockwell of Florida; eight grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and one granddaughter.
