G.W. ROCKWELL DIES SUDDENLY – Aged Resident of Clifford Succumbs in Hospital After Operation. George W. Rockwell, 83, of Clifford, died suddenly Friday night at Major hospital in Shelbyville where he had undergone an operation last Tuesday. He was a retired farmer and had lived in Clifford since 1920.
Funeral rites will be held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Clifford Christian Church where he was a member. Services will be in charge of the Rev. James Meyers, of Waverly, a grandson of Mr. Rockwell and burial will be made at Garland Brook Cemetery. The casket will be open Sunday afternoon at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Essex in Clifford.
He was born in this county and except for a period he lived in Illinois, he spent his entire life in this county.
He made his home with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Essex, in Clifford.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth: the daughter, at whose home he died: five sons, Hal Rockwell, and Raymond Rockwell, both of Indianapolis: Harry Rockwell, of Kokomo, Harley Rockwell, of New York City, and Ralph Rockwell, of Milwaukee, Wis.: and two brothers, Tobe Rockwell, of Dayton, Ohio, and John Rockwell, of Peru.
