Gerald Lee Adkisson married Bertie Nadine Jones on August 6, 1940, at the Baptist parsonage in Anthony, Kansas. They had three children: Patsy Nadine, Jerry Lee, and Earnest Allen. Gerald worked for a grocery store, ran the Freeport elevator, and then worked for the Harper County Highway Department. He was a skilled mechanic who helped many friends with their vehicles. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, bowling, and loved his family and friends. He was active in the First Baptist Church of Anthony. He died suddenly of heart failure while bowling with friends.
