Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Jean "Dot" Gosdin, age 87, will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Old Sarepta Missionary Baptist Church, Sarepta, LA, with Rev. Todd Pickard officiating. Interment will follow in Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gosdin was born on May 31, 1929 to D.I. "Cub" and Callie Evans Dean in Sarepta, LA and passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. She was a member of Old Sarepta Missionary Baptist Church and worked as a clerk for various businesses in this area. She had a love for making crafts and sharing her knowledge of them with others, but her greatest love was taking care of her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Wynne and husband, Thomas of Newton, TX, Annette Watson of Shreveport; six grandchildren, Dana D. Phillips and husband, Shawn, Jason Benson, MelissaBenson and fiancé Shannon Woods, Allen Modisette and fiancée, Ticia Brown, Kevin Modisette, Angela Adams; and fifteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gosdin was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Gosdin; son, Larry Gosdin; sisters, Bessie Edwards, Margie Fuller; and brother, Howard L. "Buddy" Dean.
Pallbearers will be Jason Benson, Allen Modisette, Kevin Modisette, Don Fuller, Howard Lynn Dean, and Vince Stone.
