Charlotte Marie (Ross) Dinges, 91, died Saturday, June 18, 2016.
She was born July 31, 1924, in Ellis County to Albert Thomas and Henrietta Stone (Barnes) Ross.
She spent the early years of her life on the Ross farm near Hyacinth and then attended high school at Girls Catholic High School in Hays from 1939 to 1943. Following graduation, she worked several office jobs in Hays, living much of the time with her brother Gene and his wife, Regina. She worked in the shipyards in Portland during early years of World War II.
She married Julius F. Dinges on May 29, 1944, in Schoenchen.
After the war, she worked briefly at S&W Supply Co. in Hays. From 1946, she was a house wife and raised six children. She worked at the Hays Travenol plant from 1971 to 1985 and did years of volunteer work with Thomas More Prep Alumni Association and was an avid golfer. She lived in Wichita from 1998 to 2011. The last five years of her life were spent in the Halstead Health and Rehab Center.
Survivors include four sons, William and wife, Judith, Silver Spring, Md., David and wife, Christine, BalaCynwyd, Pa., Jude and wife, Michelle, Alpharetta, Ga. and Brion, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Rebecca and fiance, Rudy Loewen, Montezuma, and Mary Beth Staab, Valley Center; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were at Sacred Heart Church, Halstead; burial Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.
