Obituary:
Viola Ruth Holbert, daughter of John and Rosa Holbert, and beloved wife of Forrest Coon, was born in Cherry County, Nebraska, on the 22nd day of April, 1895.
On the 12th day of April, 1926, she was united in marriage to Forrest Coon, and to this union one son was born.
She departed this life on the first day of November, attaining an age of 33 years, 6 months and 9 days.
Mrs. Coon united with the Presbyterian Church when she was only 13 years of age and remained a member of the Gordon church until her death. Mrs. Coon was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and of the Woman's Club of Gordon.
Those who are sorrowing over her early demise are her husband and infant son, two sisters: Mrs. Vernice Gillian and Mrs. Katy Meisner, two brothers: Raymond and Newton, her grandfather and grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Short, three aunts, Mrs. Wm. Barclay, Mrs. Richard Atwood and Mrs. Edna Atwood, together with many other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon, with Reverend C.I. Shelby in charge.
Mrs. Coon was a woman of fine character and her pleasant ways had won for her a place in the organizations with which she was affiliated and in the community. Her passing is mourned, not only by her family, but by the entire community.
