Funeral services for Loretta C. Shuff, 96, Forbes, ND, formerly Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. Pastor Ray Pomplun and Pastor Tyler Poppen will officiate. Burial at Riverside Memorial Park, Aberdeen. Loretta died Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00p.m., Friday at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, Aberdeen.

Loretta C. Bohn was born April 27, 1920 to Albert and Mary (Kenitzer) Bohn in Great Bend, ND. She was confirmed in 1933 at St. Paul’s Lutheran church. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1938, and continued her education at the Britton School of Nursing, graduating with her RN degree. Loretta moved to El Paso, TX, and worked in the military hospital.

In October 1942, Loretta married Wayne Shuff in El Paso. Loretta moved back to Aberdeen in 1943 while Wayne was stationed in Italy. After they started their family, she stayed home to raise the children for several years. She then worked at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital for 25 years, Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc, WI, for three years, Dakota Midland for 17 years, then as a Home Healthcare Provider from 1987 to 1995. Wayne passed away in 1977. Loretta continued to make home in Aberdeen until 2008 when she moved to Forbes, ND.

Loretta was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, LWML, Women’s Relief Group, and TOPS. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, and was a great cook. She loved watching and listening to the Minnesota Twin’s games. She cherished spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Loretta’s life are her son, James Shuff, Aberdeen; daughter, Judith (Vernard) Brandenburger, Forbes; five grandchildren: Ryan (Heather Williams) Shuff, Roberta (Steven) Eiker, Lori (Mancel) Brandenburger, Heather (Alfred) Kappenman, and Andrew A. (TerriAnn) Kimball; 9 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great- Grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Shuff; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Wayne; infant son, Michael; her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
