PFC. WILLIAM C. FRY, Blairsville, killed in action on Saipan Island, June 17, 1945, will be buried in Armagh Cemetery, Thursday. The only son of William C. and Mary Shearer Fry, he was born in Pittsburgh, September 6, 1920. He was a member of the Blairsville Methodist Church. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps, April 6, 1941, and received his training at San Antonio, Tex., Cryder Field, Pine Bluff, Ark., and Hondro Tex. He was a member of the 7th Bombardment Command and Army Air Force. He landed in Hawaii June 17, 1943 and was stationed there for 16 months before going to Saipan November 3, 1944. He was killed on the second anniversary of his landing in the Pacific area, June 17, 1945, and was buried with full military honors in Army Cemetery No. 1, Saipan, June 19, 1945. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Berl Ondrizek Fry, Blairsville, and his grandmother, Mrs. Annie Fry, Armagh. The body arrived at Torrence today at 11:05 a.m. railroad time, and was taken to the home of his parents, where friends will be received. Services will be held from the home Thursday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. John N. Hempstead. Blairsville Legion Post and V.F.W. will have charge of military rites at the cemetery. Hunter Funeral Home, Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
