Gary Arthur Harsin entered eternal rest on June 4, 2016 following a lengthy illness with pulmonary hypertension. Gary, along with his twin brother Gerald, was born on August 8, 1933 at Albion, NE to Glen Harsin and Doris Young. His family moved to Missouri during the depression, then settled in the Scottsbluff, NE area. He graduated from Sunflower High School at Mitchell, NE. He attended Graceland College in Iowa, Northwest Missouri State College, and Kearney State Teachers College where he received a BA and MS.

He began his teaching career at Bartlett, NE where he met and married a fellow teacher Jeanne Broady on November 2, 1957 in Tecumseh, NE. They were married for 58 years. Gary was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army stationed at Mainz, Germany. Jeanne joined him in Germany where their daughter Paula Jean was born in 1959. Upon discharge, Gary taught at Loup City, NE for four years, where second daughter Lisa Ann was born in1961. After a year teaching in Bridgeport, NE the family moved to Windsor, CO in 1964. Gary was a Windsor High School guidance counselor, coached track, and started the cross-country program. He later taught social studies in the middle school. In 1967 his third daughter Beth Marie was born. Gary and Jeanne enjoyed many years teaching in Windsor where they raised their family. He retired from teaching in 1990, but continued coaching track and cross-country until 1995. He was inducted into the Windsor High School Hall of Fame in 2014.

Gary loved to golf and following retirement he worked at Ptarmigan Golf Club. He and Jeanne traveled to Europe, Peru, Alaska and many more U.S. States. They were avid bicyclists touring many Colorado passes, the Black Hills and England. The family bought their first cabin at Red Feather Lakes in 1968 where they spent wonderful family times over nearly 50 years. Gary was a member of Windsor Lyons Club for 30 years. In 1996, Gary and Jeanne moved to Loveland, CO where they lived until his death. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, and golfing.

Gary and Jeanne have been members of Christ Center Community Church, formerly First Christian Church, in Fort Collins since 1980. Gary had a strong Christian faith his entire life and served in mission work and as an elder.

Gary is survived by his wife Jeanne, his two daughters, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters, a brother, a brother-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his daughter Beth Dathe, his parents, his parents-in-law, sister Karen, brother Gerald, and other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 2 pm at Christ Center Community Church, 2700 S. Lemay Ave., Fort Collins, CO.
