Mary Ann Moore, age 78, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Stromsburg, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral services were Monday, November 13,2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stromsburg Baptist Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Duane Tweeten and Pastor Roger Burke officiating. Organist was Ann Moore.
Special music, sung by grandchildren. Song selections included "Children of the Heavenly Father", He Leadeth Me", Nearer My God To Thee", " Faith of Our Fathers", and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Mary Ann was born on June 11, 1928 to Herman and Thelma (Leibee ) Anderson in Stromsburg, Nebraska. She attended school in Stromsburg, graduating from Stromsburg High School in 1946. Following graduation she attended the California School of Cosmetology in Omaha, Nebraska. On March 30, 1948 she was united in marriage to Paul Moore at the Baptist Church in Stromsburg. To this union four children were born.
Mary Ann and Paul lived in Stromsburg where they co-owned the Moore Lumber Company .They sold thelumber company in 1984 when they relocated to Winter Haven, Florida to begin their new business "Moore and Moore Flags". They enjoyed spending the winters on Long Lake in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She was a member of the Stromsburg Baptist Church and enjoyed singing as a member of the choir. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Paul, of Winter Haven, Florida; sons Stan (Ann) Moore of Georgetown, Colorado, Dave (Sandy) Moore of Genoa, Nebraska. and Jason (penny) Moore of Scottsdale, Arizona; one daughter Joy(Scott) Ottum of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, one sister Alice Jane Oquist of Stromsburg; one brother-in-law Stanton (Orpha) Moore of Stromsburg, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Detroit Lakes United Methodist Church, Stromsburg Baptist Church, Hospice of the Red River Valley and CCM Missions -Pastor Allen Kolades of Arbindale, Florida.
