Gerald enlisted in the US Army 17 September 1962 and served in Korea.
When he arrived in Vietnam 16 August 1965 he was assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Calvary, 1st Calvary Division, USARV. Gerald died as a result of gunshot wounds to head, chest and back when the battalion encountered NVA hostile forces at LZ Albany and 7 kilometers east northeast of Chu Prong Mountain (Hill732) in Pleiku Province.
Sgt Evans was married and served his country for 14 years.
Survived by his wife, Hisako Evans, a son, Jerry and daughters, Arhline, Darline, Caraline and Marline Evans all of 3939 Trask Drive, Columbus,
Georgia and his mother, Mary K Evans of 4114 N 74th St, Bethel, Kansas.
