Mrs. Matilda A. North, widow of the late William L. North, died on Saturday, February 19, 1881 at 9:30 in the morning at her home, 1.5 miles east of Belle Plaine. She was born in Perry County, Ohio, in September 1810. She married William L. North on December 17, 1837 in Wood County, Ohio. They were one of the earliest pioneer families to settle near Belle Plaine, KS, arriving in the 1870's (I can't read the last digit of the year from the microfilm). William preceeded her in death by a few months, passing peacefully away on November 29, 1880.
