In 1884, John came to Parker County, Texas to join his older brother Will. He hired to work for J. M. Taylor. In 1885 he worked for Tom Taylor, son of J. M. Taylor. He took a severe cold on top of whooping cough and died of pneumonia on Oct. 18, 1885.
