Will left Tennessee on Jan. 23, 1884 and lived the rest of his long life in Texas. "I loved the long views of the Texas prairies." He married Kate Simmons Sept. 22, 1889, the first couple married in the new Bethesda Methodist Church (rebuilt in 1889). He became a Master Mason in 1905. He was a steward in Bethesda Methodist church and Kate a Sunday School teacher. To Will and Kate, singing was as natural as breathing. Kate, sang soprano and Will had a baritone voice. After leaving farming in 1908, he worked as a carpenter and contractor. He took great interest in local, state and national politics. He was good at games and contests and played dominoes up to the last months of his life.
