Jacob is the oldest child of Daniel Fulton Hayden (1814-1857) and Mary E. Walker of Meade County, Kentucky. Daniel F. Hayden was a son of Jacob "Kentucky Jake" Hayden (1783-1874) and Sophia Shacklett (1789-1826), both born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

Feb. 2, 1861 - Jacob Hayden, 24, farmer, b. Meade Co., Ky., res. of Meade Co. (father and mother b. Meade Co.) to Rachel Hardaway, 26 (father and mother b. Breckinridge Co.) Griffin F. Hardaway, bondsman; to be married on Feb. 5, 1861 at residence of Daniel Stith. (Source: Breckinridge Co., Ky. Records, Vol. 2)

The following is from Jacob Hayden's (b. 1836) obituary, date and name of newspaper is unknown at this time.

"Jacob Hayden was born in Meade County, Kentucky December 11, 1836 and died in Edgerton, Platte County, Missouri January 17, 1906, aged 69 years, 1 month, and 6 days. He was oldest of a family of eleven children. He was the father of eight children, four of whom survive him, two living in north Missouri and two in south Missouri.
He had just returned home from a visit with his children when he was taken with his last illness, was sick just 20 days. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church in Edgerton, Thursday, January 18, 1906, conducted by Bro. B. Venable, after which the remains were buried with Masonic honors in the Mt. Zion Cemetery."

In 1900, Jacob Hayden was living in Mooney Twp., Polk County, Missouri.

Note that the Mary E. Hayden (1818-1894) buried next to Jacob (to the south) is his mother Mary E. Walker Hayden.

Jacob's sister Rebecca (Hayden) Dowell (d. Oct. 1889), wife of Simeon H. Dowell, is buried next to Mary E. Hayden, to the south.
