Ruth Perkins Stevens, 88, of Kinard, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at her home. She was born Tuesday, May 8, 1928 to Thomas Perkins and Annie Perkins of Luverne, AL and grew up in Plant City. She lived in Miami for a number of years then moved to Wewahitchka in 1974, where she resided until her husband’s death in 2003. She then resided in Kinard. She had a passion for reading and was a wonderful cook and was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Buford Stevens; two brothers, O’Neil and Tom; and two sisters, Ann and Catherine.

Survivors include nine children, Paulette Adams and her husband, Richard of Brandon, Sarah Ann Carter and Ruby Charlene Heffelfinger and her husband, Paul, all of Zephryhills, Linda Diane Simmons and her husband, Paul of Riverview, Juan Alan Stevens and his wife, Stephanie of Niceville, Gwendolyn Marie Cain of Kinard, Dale Eric Stevens of Panama City, Mark Stevens and his wife, Christy of Wewahitchka, and Beverly Lorraine Parker and her husband, Jim of Blountstown; her twin sister, Ruby of Apollo Beach and sister, Christine of Miami; 28 grandchildren, Tracy, Paul, Rayann, Mark, Hiedi, Scotty, Ricky, Ilene, Angela, Jennifer, Micheal, J.V., Travis, Noah, Norah Lynn, Jeremy, Jamie, Erica, Bradley, Morgan, Chante’, Whitney, Chris, Tyler, Jake, Branden, Ryan, and honorary grandson, Norman Terry; 40 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. CT prior to services at the funeral home.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 8 at 2 p.m. CT at Peavy Funeral Home with Pastor Claude McGill officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown.
