HENDERSONVILLE - Vance Harvey Ballard, 71, of Hendersonville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Elizabeth House.He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivory and Nettie Gilbert Ballard, and two brothers, Arthur and David Ballard.He served in the U.S. Army, worked at Dupont and Cranston Print Works before starting his own business, Ballard's Nursery.Vance loved to fish.He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia Sentell Ballard; a daughter, Angela Ballard LaBerge, of Sevierville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ballard, of Hendersonville; two grandsons, Michael and David LaBerge, of Hendersonville, and several nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Vance and Patricia's home.In lieu of flowers, please donate to you favorite charity in Vance's memory.Jackson Funeral Service and Crematory is assisting the family.Condolence cards may be sent to the family at www.jacksonfuneralservice.com or P.O.
