ARTESIA - Mrs. Petra P. Marquez, 87, of Hank Avenue in Artesia, died Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, at Artesia General Hospital. Services are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Grace Church with Rev. John Curran officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at the church, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. today at the church. Interment will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Park.

Mrs. Marquez was born Oct. 8, 1908 in Presidio, Texas to Francisco Sosa and Francisca Palomino. She was married in 1925 in Presidio to Jesus O. Marquez, who preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1987. She moved to Artesia in May 1946 from Presidio. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Society and past member and volunteer for R.S.V.P.
She is survived by five sons, Jesus Marquez Jr., Guadalupe Marquez and Oscar Marquez, all of Artesia, Joe Marquez of Espanola and Henry Marquez of Santa Fe; four daughters, Maria Rubio, Rosa Aguilar and Agripina Leyba, of Artesia, and Grace Lopez of Ruidoso; two sisters, Veve Barragan of Artesia and Lidia Jimenez of El Paso; 31 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and various nieces and nephews.
