Candida Mancusi, age 88, of Stamford, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016. She was born in Stamford to the late Sabitino and Grace Sgritta on November 10, 1927. Candida attended Stamford Public Schools. She graduated from Danbury State Teachers College and earned her master's degree in education from the Columbia Teachers College. Candida taught in the Stamford Public School System for 35 years. Candida was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Mancusi, brother Savatore Sgritta and sister Connie Sgritta. She is survived by two daughters, Lenore Rompre and Lisa Sette; her sister-in-law, Ann Sgritta; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Candida was a devoted grandmother to her three grandsons. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining friends and family. All services will be conducted in private. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Saint Jude's Childrens Hospital.
