Wolfe Man Kills Self
CAMPTON, KY, June 12 (Special) -- Jesse L. Collier, 64, died this morning at his home of a self-inflicted shotgun wound. Wolfe County Coroner Lewis Porter said he ruled the death a suicide. He said Collier shot himself in the chest with a 12-guage shotgun about 7:30am. porter said Collier left a note by a path leading up to the house. It explained that Collier thought he had cancer. The note, Porter said, was found by Collier's wife, Mrs. Nannie Jane Collier, about 9:30 am as she was returning home. She called the coroner. Other survivors are three sons, Lonnie Collier, Warsaw; Buford Coller, Meriden, Conn.; and Elmer Collier, Lexington; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Sparks, and Mrs. Velma Sue Alcorn, Hamilton, Ohio, and Miss Betty Ann Collier, Campton; a brother, Ray Collier, Franklin, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Reed, Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Lula Duff, Franklin, Ohio, and 13 grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2pm Monday at the Campton First Church of God by the Rev. Omer Spencer. Burial will be in the family cemetery. The body is at the Porter and Son Funeral Home.
