On July 15, 1895 after a week of unconsciousness, Mrs Sarah Maria Betts passed away. She was well known and highly respected by a very large circle of friends and acquaintances. She was born in Coventry, Chenango County, NY January 12, 1822. On Dec 24, 1843 she married Dr James N Betts of Greene, NY They resided in Carthage for a time and then to Syracuse. In the year 1855. or forty years since, they settled in Pulaski where as husband and wife toiled with untiring energy and efficiency. She was a true mother and devoted herself to her home and was a great lover of flowers. She was a member of the Pulaski Baptist church. Since the death of her husband in March 1892, she has been in failing health. She leaves three sons Albert F Betts, James H Betts and Dr George W Betts, all well known resident of Pulaski. Funeral services was held from her home on the corner of Lake an Broad Streets. Services were conducted by Rev W W Boyd of St Louis. Interment was next to her husband in Pulaski cemetery.
