Winford Verlin Acton, 95, Mooresville, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away June 4, 2016. Winford's creativity drove his life--through his many projects and his love of music. He was a proud veteran and served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Acton retired from Detroit Allison and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Kathleen (Wright) Acton, to whom he was united in marriage December 4, 1948; parents, General Lee and Della (Warren) Acton; step-mother, Katherine Acton; brother, Ernest Acton; sisters, Edna Brewer and Minnie Fowler. He is survived by sons, Larry Wynn(Dee) Acton of Thorntown and Danny Lee (Arleen) Acton of Texas; grandchildren, Stacey, Robbie, Jessica and Damon; great grandchildren, Madison and Riley McGhee.

The funeral service will begin at 11 am, Friday June 10, 2016, in the Chapel; at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, Mooresville. Friends may call from 10 am until service time. Entombment will follow in forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
