Was researching Phanuel Elizabeth Smith (née Brockman), and found many variant spellings of her name. The bio. of her father, Henry H. Brockman,* confirms "Phanuel." (Biblical name, mentioned as the parent of Anna in Luke 2:36.) Henry H. Brockman happens to have been a younger brother of Mary Elizabeth Acton (née Brockman), who in turn was the mother Emma Phanuel "Fanny."
