Mage Matthew Aspinwall, 81, of Blackshear, died Saturday (Jan. 28, 2006) morning at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville following an extended illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Pierce County. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Aspinwall and Grace Emmanuel Aspinwall; one son, Bobby Aspinwall; one daughter, Margie Sue Aspinwall; and two grandchildren, Teresa Peacock and Andy King.

He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter and builder.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ela Mae Aspinwall, of Patterson; two daughters, Shirley Peacock, of Offerman, and Barbara Morgan (husband Joe), of Blackshear; eight grandchildren, Bev Chaney, of St. Simons, Angie Herrin (husband Timmy), of Blackshear, Barbee Smoot (husband Larry), of Ft. Hood, Texas, Pam Harrell (husband David), of Blackshear, Timothy King (wife Peggy), of Blackshear, Robert Aspinwall (wife Tricia), of Blackshear, Tina Corbitt (husband Scott), of Kingsland, and Kim Johnson (husband Anthony), of Offerman; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Davis, of Waycross, and Bertie Aspinwall, of Patterson; one brother, Jack Aspinwall, of Hawkinsville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Waters Cemetery.

A funeral for Mage Aspinwall was held Monday afternoon in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Gunter officiating. Burial was in the Waters Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Anthony Johnson, David Harrell, Foye Davis, Harley Herrin, Maxie Owens and Carlos Leggett. Arrangements were with Smith Funeral Home of Blackshear.
