Alvin was the oldest son of William Henry Wells and Alwilda Jane Carter. He was born in Flagler Park in St Johns County. The family moved to Putnam County where his mother died when he was 8 years old. He was married at least 3 times, maybe four. First wife Josephine E. Gruver, married in St Augustine, FL in 1885 according to county records. In 1890 deed records list his wife as Lillian J Gruver. In daughter Ethel's baptism records she lists her mother as Lillian Gruver. I believe they are the same person. Alvin and his wife Mary, who he married in 1895, joined the LDS church in 1899 and remained members until their deaths. He was a planter and fruit grower in Florida and later became a carpenter by trade. He left Florida sometime after 1902 when Mary died. He left all his sons and moved west. He lived in New Mexico as early as 1908 when he married Dora Youngblood, Oklahoma where he buried two children and finally Texas where he died. His burial site near Mercedes Texas has not yet been located.
