Robert Conn, the son of Robert and Mary Conn, was born around the year 1836.

On August 15, 1862, at the age of 26, he enlisted in the 24th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and on August 28, 1862, he was mustered in as 5th Sergeant of Company E. Throughout the course of the war, he was promoted twice: first to 4th Sergeant on September 3, 1863, and then to 3rd Sergeant on December 16, 1864.

He mustered out with the regiment on July17, 1865, in Savannah, Georgia.

He returned to Iowa, and eventually moved to 1537 1st Ave., in Cedar Rapids, after the war. His wife, Adeline, lived from august 18, 1841, to only March 20, 1895.
Robert died on June 5, 1917.
