Gordon E. Aldrich, 80, of McMillan, died Tuesday evening May 31, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and the care of North Woods Hospice.

Born October 2, 1935 in Climax, son of the late Amos and Nina (Parker) Aldrich, Gordon was employed in bridge construction for over 30 years, retiring as superintendent and member of Carpenter’s Union Local 1009. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking and travelling, visiting 48 of the 50 states. Gordon was also a heart transplant recipient for the past 11 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife, the former Katie Rentmeester, whom he married February 14, 1983 in Elk Rapids; children Sindy Lu (Mike) Bugosh of Redford, Patricia Jerry of Gwinn, Gale Aldrich of McMillan, Penny Marie Aldrich of Gwinn, Tina (George) Schmutz of Hudson, OH, Timothy (Julie) Peot of Manitowoc, WI and Thomas (Stephanie) Peot of Marietta, GA; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings Ruthanne (Richard) Butts and Joyce Cummings all of Prescott, AZ.

Friends may call at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry on Friday June 3, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Paul Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Columbus Township Cemetery in McMillan.

Memorials may be directed to the family in his memory.
