John Henry Counts of Birmingham, Alabama died unexpectedly Monday at his Alabama residence. He was 84.
A graveside service was held yesterday at Mt. Garner Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Bloodworth officiated.
Mr. Counts, a former Decherd resident, was a native of Lincoln County and the son of H. W. Counts and Phoebe Crabtree Counts. He was a retired L & N Railroad employee with 50 years of service.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Renee Cloud Counts of Birmingham, Alabama; two daughters, Mrs. Mattie Lou Witt of Nashville and Mrs. Lillie Mae Hart of Chesapeake, Virginia; one son, W. B. Counts of Decherd; one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Honey of Elora; one brother, I. N. Counts of Elora; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
