JEREMIAH BEEBE TAKEN BY DEATH
Jeremiah Beebe, an aged and highly esteemed citizen of Watertown township, passed away at his home on Rainbow Creek on Sunday.
Mr. Beebe was born in Watertown township on May 7, 1836. On March 15, 1858, he was married to Miss Martha Meyers, who passed away some years later. On September 20, 1887, he was married to Mrs. America Woodruff, who died November 19, 1922.
Mr. Beebe enlisted for service in the Civil War and was a member of Company I 148th Infantry, and at the end of a term of service he was honorably discharged on September 15, 1864. He was a member of Barlow Post, G. A. R., and also of the I. O. O. F. Lodge of Watertown. He spent almost his entire life in Washington county and was known for his industrious habits, having the love and esteem of the entire community in which he lived.
Mr. Beebe had enjoyed good health until last Tuesday, when a slight illness, which the natural infirmities of his age could not overcome, ended his life. He is survived by two sons, Fred, of Watertown township and Wallace, of Palmer township.
Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church at Watertown Tuesday at noon, and will be conducted by Rev. Harvey, of Barlow, with burial in Watertown cemetery.
